During a consulting career spanning over 20 years, Doug has always been focused on delivering results. A tested consultant and operator, business execution and growth expert, he’s worked with healthcare leadership teams and organizations all over the world to accelerate their most critical business strategies. Whether working with key individuals or entire enterprises, Doug believes outcomes are what matter most.
From a position of expansion or on the edge of survivability, with either a revenue/growth and/or cost-cutting focus, Doug has a honed ability to partner with businesses to get the right teams focusing on the right things at the right times, thereby reliably delivering positive outcomes. Doug is also an expert in creating and working in teams while making people feel valued, needed, and worthy. An important goal of any organization or change initiative is to improve employee morale, foster a positive work space, and create an environment of success. Doug believes this is a key ingredient to long-term business success.
Prior to co-founding Empactful Advisors, Doug was a Chief Operating Officer at HMS, Inc., a publicly traded company that was successfully acquired by Veritas Capital. Other notable prior roles include: Partner at Arthur Andersen, running the Healthcare IT practice for the U.S.; Managing Director for IBM Global Services, running healthcare consulting worldwide; and CIO at Optum Provider Services, running IT for its risk-based provider business.
Doug’s client list includes many small growth companies, mid-sized payer and provider organizations, as well as several Fortune 100 businesses. Doug is also a published business writer, guest lecturer, and keynote speaker, as well as the author of Shift: A Playbook for Positive Change.
